Self-guided pace

With the app audio guide, you move at your own speed through 12 connected pavilions, courtyards, and gardens. Most people take 60–90 minutes: entering at 10:00, moving through the main rooms by 11:00, sitting in the main courtyard and gardens until 11:30, and leaving by noon. This pace lets you see everything without rushing.

If you want more time

If you linger on the tilework in the galleries, sit on the marble-column benches in the main courtyard, and spend 20 minutes in the gardens, you can easily spend 2 hours. This is not wasted time; it’s when the palace reveals itself.

Guided-tour pace

A guide moves you faster through the highlights and provides stories. Most guided tours run 1.5 hours. Guided-tour options here.

Insider tip

If you have the time, take 90 minutes. This is not a race. The palace is best experienced when you can sit in the courtyard and feel the quiet.

Frequently asked questions

Can I visit in 30 minutes?

Not really. You could move through the palace very fast in 30 minutes, but you’d miss the point. The Dueñas is best experienced slowly. If you’re truly pressed for time, skip it in favour of the Alcázar, which you can do faster.

Should I book a guide or go self-guided?

Self-guided (€15 with audio guide) lets you move at your own pace. Guided tours (€26+) are better if you want stories and a faster pace. Compare options here.

How much time for the gardens?

Most people spend 15–20 minutes in the gardens and on the lemon tree. If you’re a garden person, allow 30 minutes.
