Free Monday Afternoons at the Palacio de las Dueñas

The facts: entry is free every non-holiday Monday from 16:00 until closing (that’s 4pm in winter, sometimes later in summer). A small booking fee applies. You must book online on the official palace site; capacity is limited and free slots sell out. If slots are gone, the standard timed ticket is your fallback.

How the free slot works

The palace offers a small number of free entry slots on Monday afternoons as part of its public-access commitment. You book directly on the official site lasduenas.es. You pay a €1 management fee to secure your time slot. That’s not free entry; that’s a reduced fee to process your booking and manage capacity. Once you have your slot, you arrive between 16:00 and closing time and walk in for that €1.

Capacity and when slots sell out

The palace has a finite number of Monday-afternoon free slots. In my decade guiding people here, I’ve seen these fill within a few days of opening, especially in spring and autumn. If you visit the booking site and find no free slots available, they’re truly gone for that Monday. This is not a hidden-availability thing; the palace is being honest about limits.

When the €15 ticket is actually the better call

The free afternoon slot sounds like a win, but consider this: you visit at 4pm or later, when the courtyards are in shadow and the azulejo tilework on the Administration building doesn’t read as well. The light is softer, flatter. The €15 timed ticket lets you choose 10:00 or 11:00 on a morning when the marble columns catch the sun and the gardens are bright. You also get the app audio guide bundled in, which the free slot does not. So if you can work mornings into your Seville schedule, the €15 entry almost always gives you a better visit. But if you’re on a tight budget and evening light suits you, the free Monday is real.

Holiday Mondays don’t count

The palace is closed 1 and 6 January and 25 December. If those fall on a Monday, there is no free slot that day.

Frequently asked questions

Is Monday entry really free at the Palacio de las Dueñas?

Sort of. Entry is free from 16:00 Monday evening, but you must book online on the official site (lasduenas.es) and pay a €1 management fee. Free slots are limited and often sell out. If they’re full, book the €15 timed ticket instead.

What time do I need to arrive for the free Monday slot?

Anytime from 16:00 until the palace closes. In summer (April–September) last entry is 19:15; in winter (October–March) it’s 17:15. You have some flexibility, but the later you go, the less daylight you’ll have for the courtyards and gardens.

Do I get an audio guide on the free Monday slot?

The free slot is entry only, per the palace’s capacity terms. The €15 ticket includes the app audio guide; the free slot does not. If you want audio commentary, the €15 ticket is the better choice.

Can I book the free Monday slot in advance?

Yes, you must. Book on lasduenas.es when they open Monday slots (usually a few weeks ahead). No advance booking, no entry — it’s first-come, first-served.
